The Rhode Island Model: A Simulation Relating the Educational System to the State Labor Market.

Abstract

The Rhode Island Model is a prototype simulation of the population and economics of the State of Rhode Island. It focuses specifically on the vocational education programs conducted by the State, their effects on the labor market, and the consequent gains and losses to the State in terms of unemployment and welfare costs. Since the model is a prototype, it does not incorporate detailed statistical data which would allow accurate projections. It does have the structure to handle such data, however, and sample model runs are provided to demonstrate the model's usefulness. (Author)
