SEAFARER Site Survey, Upper Michigan Region. Book 5. Land Use Data.

Abstract

The influence of natural features and the location of mining and lumbering resources have played primary roles in determining settlement locations and the shaping of land use patterns. Over 90% of the Study Area is devoted to agricultural and forests. Urbanized areas, typically widely scattered is minimal in terms of land coverage and accounts for about only 1% of the region. Agriculture will remain a major land use with recreation-oriented land usage likely to increase. (Author)
