SEAFARER Site Survey, Upper Michigan Region. Book 19. Wildlife Data.

Abstract

The flora and fauna of the area have undergone considerable change due to large scale logging and fires, and uncontrolled hunting and trapping. In recent years, reforestation, and fire protection have reversed this trend and the wildlife complex is changing accordingly. Hunting and fishing are rapidly expanding forms of recreation in the area, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is conducting an intensive program of habitat and wildlife rehabilitation.
