Results of Environmental Testing of Modified OH-58A Tail Rotor Drive Shaft Bearing Assemblies.

Abstract

This report presents the results of testing OH58A tail rotor bearings with dust shields and modified seals. The spring loaded bearing clamp up feature incorporated into 206-040-344-1 hanger assembly was also tested. Testing was accomplished in a closed circuit wind tunnel. Air filtration media test dust was introduced into the test machine periodically to produce a test environment of high velocity air laden with sand and dust. Bearing arrangement exhibited a 5X B10 Life Improvement. (Author)
