Standard Bioassay Using the Barnacle Larva.

Abstract

A technique is developed for the use of the barnacle larva (Balanus amphitrite) as a bioassay organism. Because of its availability, ease of handling, sensitivity, and response, the barnacle larvae are ideal organisms for the determination of the LC50 (lethal concentration to 50% of the test population).
