Free Electron Laser.

Abstract

The objective of this program is the determination of the characteristics and capabilities of laser amplifiers and oscillators based on the stimulated emission of radiation by free electrons in a spatially periodic magnetic field. The previous effort in this program was directed towards the measurement of the single pass gain and the dependence of the gain on electron energy and current, the electron beam radius and divergence, and the amplitude of the magnetic field.
