Wastewater Management Study for Chicago-South End of Lake Michigan. Appendix C. Plan Formulation.

Abstract

This appendix presents the planning concepts and procedures used in developing a range of alternative wastewater management plans for the Chicago-South End of Lake Michigan area. The results are offered as a planning framework from which the areas's decision-makers can select a system consistent with the national water quality goals and objectives set forth in the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972. The evolved wastewater management plans demonstrate: (1) the manner and extent to which the area's water and related land resources can be effectively managed in order to meet future water needs and 'waste'-oriented functions and services; and (2) the range of implications, including social, environmental, natural resources, institutional, and economic that would be involved in fulfilling the technical goals and satisfying the area needs.
