Disposal of Clearing Debris.

Abstract

Recent environmental legislation has made the disposal of clearing debris a more difficult problem at dam sites. Corps of Engineers personnel must now consider a number of complex and interacting factors when determining disposal methods. Investigators reviewed many clearing contracts and pertinent literature, visited several projects, and discussed disposal methods with personnel working on Corps projects. From this information, the investigators developed a list of factors that should be considered when selecting clearing and disposal methods for a particular site.
