Communications Processor System.

Abstract

This document is a description of the architecture of the Central Computing Complex (CCC) of the Communications Processing System. The purposes to which this document has been designed are: (a) To provide a tentative specification for a system in concert with the results of the CPS study to date; (b) To identify the potential problem areas and the attendant technical risks for such an architecture; (c) To identify critical design areas that require further study; (d) To recommend the steps that should be taken in succeeding phases of the study so that the CPS architecture can be realized in a cost effective and timely manner. This document is actually two interlaced documents. The shorter of these is of the form of programmer's or system designer's reference manual similar to what might be available to such individuals when implementing a system based on the CPS architecture. The parts belonging to the 'programmer's reference manual' are in normal type and indented.
