Gallium Phosphide and Cadmium Sulfide Detectors: An Evaluation and Comparison.

Abstract

This report describes the results of a series of tests performed on both a cadmium sulfide and a gallium phosphide photoconductive detector and how the test results compared. The tests performed were detector impedance, speed of response, uniformity, spectral response, signal response linearity and pulse response. Also a variable added to these tests was light signal magnitude. The general conclusion of this report was that the GaP detector had superior characteristics to the Cds device, but required more development. (Author)
