SCCU/MCCU Characteristics for Autodin 2

Abstract

This note considers the cost and performance of the Single-Channel and Multi-Channel Control Units (SCCU, MCCU) which could be used to connect host computers to the AUTODIN 2 network with little or no software modification to the attaching host. The SCCU provides a single switchable logical connection (possibly spanning more than the AUTODIN 2 network) to another host. The MCCU provides multiple, switchable connections. Results from the ARPANET internetting research project are used as a basis for this note.
