Measurements of Background Hydrocarbons in Remote Areas,

Abstract

Volatile terpene, ozone, and condensation nuclei concentrations have been measured at a remote site in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. Measurements were taken in a conifer forest, downwind of a conifer forest, and on a mountain summit above the tree line. A wide variety of organic species were found. Some observations and speculations about the relationships among the organic species, condensation nuclei, and ozone are made.
