A Design for Observer Sampling of Member Interaction in a Large, Spontaneous Group.
Abstract
Some social psychological problems require data on frequency of interaction. In a large (greater than 20 persons), spontaneous group this raises methodological problems of great complexity. A technique use for sampling interaction by observers of such a large spontaneous group is described. The technique was based on estimates made by Larntz of size of the counts necessary to infer the existence of informal groups from a large matrix of such counts.
