Fuel Cell Stacks.

Abstract

Production and testing of phosphoric acid fuel cell stacks is described. Electrodes, matrices, and bipolar gas distribution plates with an active area of 0.4 sq. ft. have been tested. Initial performance of 10- and 35- cell stacks has been obtained. Some stacks have been operated for over 2,000 hours at 300F, and tolerance to CO has been demonstrated. Life testing of stacks has been impeded by lack of complete gastightness and deterioration of gas diffusion plates. (Author)
