Separator Material for Reserve-Primary Zinc/Air Batteries,

Abstract

It has been found that separator materials commonly used in zinc/air batteries do not wet readily when placed in contact with alkaline electrolyte at -40 C. They are, therefore, unsuitable for use in a reserve-primary zinc/air battery which must be capable of rapid activation and operation at any temperature in the range -40 C to 50 C. A glass-Vinyon separator which meets the requirements of this type of battery has been developed. (Author)
