Career Development: Missile Officers' Perceptions and Opportunities
Abstract
Career perceptions and opportunities for career development of missile crew officers from two operational ICBM missile wings, a Minuteman and Titan II were analysed. The study indicated: a relationship between positive career intent and awareness of and contact with the Missile Management Working Group; missile officers perceived their opportunities for career advancement as better than other non-rated officers or civilians; the more time an officer spent on a crew the greater his knowledge of career development; multiple weapon system experience is desirable for attaining career objectives.
