An Evaluation of Real and Programmed Defect Conditions in HIP Discs Using Holosonics' System 200 Scanned Acoustical Holography Imaging System.

Abstract

This report documents the successful inspection of HIP discs using Holosonics' System 200 Scanned Acoustical Holography Inspection System. The System 200 provides hard copy photographic images of internal material structural conditions. These acoustical images photos depict plan view, section view, 3-D projected views and reconstructed acoustical holography images of both real and programmed anomalous conditions within the HIP discs provided for this study. A total of 13 test specimens containing both real and programmed defects were examined in order to provide a meaningful data presentation documenting the adaptability of the System 200 to production inspection of HIP discs. A recommedned system configuration is presented in the conclusion of this report. (Author)
