Power, Primacy, and Perspective: America as Number 1 Nation. Volume II. Status and Perceptions.

Abstract

This paper is an abridgement of a book-length study investigating America's status as Number One nation in rankings of power and influence internationally. Factors determining status are identified (both material and imponderable factors), and the most reliable appraisals are compiled on American rankings. Foreign and domestic perceptions of American status are surveyed. World trends impacting on American primacy are evaluated, and implications suggested. (Author)
