Refinement of Casting Techniques for Small Air-Cooled, Turbine Blades. Phase 1

Abstract

T700 stage-two turbine blade was redesigned to permit application of advanced coring practices to investment cast turbine blades. The redesign resulted in a more producible turbine blade and reduced the overall cost of the blade. The design history, manufacturing steps, qualification procedures, engine test results and cost analysis are discussed for the radial-hole cooled turbine blade.
