Vocational Interests and Their Relationship to Academic Major Areas at the U. S. Naval Academy.

Abstract

The research objective was the development and evaluation of interest scales designed to provide an index of similarity between a midshipman's interests (as measured by the Strong Vocational Interest Blank) and the interests of Naval Academy graduates in each of three broad academic areas. The validity for each scale was significant in each cross-validation samples. Four alternative strategies for using the interest scales were evaluated and compared. (Author)
