Some Philosophical Views of Algorithms and Computing Methods in Applied Mathematics,

Abstract

This paper summarizes some of the work done by the Aer0-Astronautics Group of Rice University in the area of numerical methods and computing methods. It describes some of the philosophical thoughts that have guided this work throughout the years. Recommendations are offered concerning allocation of funds and distribution of funds. Additional recommendations are offered in order to bridge the gap between the top management of government agencies and the academic community. (Author)
