Correlates of Retention and Promotion for USNA Graduates,

Abstract

The question arises as to whether the Navy retains the top graduates and whether these graduates are more likely to be the most successful officers. Furthermore, does the Navy benefit from the graduate education it provides by retaining these officers and does this investment provide the Navy with more successful officers. To answer these questions data was collected for all graduating members of the classes of 1947 and 1950. Retention and promotion tables were constructed and regression equations estimated.
