Experimental Seaworthiness Comparison of Two Proposed Hull Forms of Nuclear-Powered Guided-Missile Strike Cruiser (CSGN),

Abstract

The David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center undertook to experimentally determine which of two proposed hull designs for the nuclear-powered, guided-missile strike cruiser (CSGN) exhibited the best seakeeping characteristics. Extensive seaworthiness experiments were carried out for the large waterplane version with a comprehensive program being conducted for the conventional version as well. The results indicate the two versions are similar with the conventional version exhibiting generally better seaworthiness characteristics. (Author)
