The Effect of Initial Imperfections on Optimal Stiffened Cylinders under Axial Compression,

Abstract

This report deals with the effect of initial imperfections on optimal stiffened cylinders under axial compression. A nonlinear stability methodology is developed for analyzing such system in the presence of small initial imperfections. This methodology is then employed to assess the effectiveness of stiffened cylinders optimized on the basis of linear stability analysis.
