Synchronous Alternator Analysis.

Abstract

A two-dimensional analysis of the cross section of a salient-pole, synchronous aircraft alternator under no load is reported. The nonlinear effects of magnetic saturation were considered. The solution algorithm is a modified version of an algorithm previously used in the analysis of nonlinear, homopolar-inductor alternators. The details of the algorithm and the computer programs implemented on a minicomputer were described in earlier MERADCOM reports. This report contains teletypewriter terminal printouts of actual minicomputer runs. A solution of the magnetic flux analysis was reached, but the number of iterations required to reach the solution indicates that problems remain in optimizing the numerical analysis used in the algorithm.
