Environmental Protection Task and Development of Permafrost Region (Zadachi Okhrany Okruzhaiushchei Sredy i Osvoenie Oblasti Mnogoletnemerzlykh Porod),

Abstract

The nature of Siberia, the Arctic and Subarctic regions is exclusively sensitive to the activities of man and is easily damaged. Its protective functions are limited and everything is in a state of maximum equilibrium. In the area of wide spread permafrost the problems of the environment have three aspects: environmental pollution, destruction of ecological equilibrium, and depletion of natural resources. These areas are addressed briefly in this report. (Author)
