Attitude Determination System for Rockets Using Gyroscopic Platforms.

Abstract

The system used to calculate the attitude of a rocket whose principal attitude measuring system is a gyroscopic platform is discussed. The various types of gyro systems, their comparisons and differences are presented. A synopsis of the mathematical analysis used to compute the attitude is displayed. Various data refinement techniques and correction procedures for rockets whose systems malfunction are presented. Results in the form of plots of the angle of attack between the velocity vector and rocket axis for several rockets whose attitudes were determined by this system are exhibited. (Author)
