Feasibility Study: AXBT/EA Airborne Expendable Bathythermograph/Electronics Assembly.

Abstract

The Sippican Corporation conducted a study for the Office of Naval Research to prove the feasibility of incorporating a Model T-7 XBT and a self-calibrating interface circuit into the AN/SSQ-36 Sonobuoy. This would improve the accuracies of the buoy to those of the XBT system (+ or - 0.2 C, + or -2% of depth) and increase depth capability to 760 meters. Further investigation was then made into the costs associated with this improvement. This report details the results of these investigations. (Author)
