A Preliminary Thermographic Heat Survey of ARRADCOM Facilities (Dover, NJ).

Abstract

An infrared thermographic survey was made of buildings and facilities in Picatinny Arsenal. The purpose of the survey was to demonstrate the usefulness of IR thermography as a diagnostic technique to discover and identify sources of heat loss. Several examples are shown in which thermography yields valuable information on insulation deficiencies, poorly insulated steam lines, running vent fans, open windows, etc. It is shown that thermographic data needs careful interpretation and is vulnerable to emissivity variations. Parameters for developing a quantitative thermographic methodology are identified as a basis for future work. (Author)
