Electromagnetic Coupling Between Multiconductor Transmission Lines in a Homogeneous Medium

Abstract

The electromagnetic coupling between multiconductor transmission lines which are immersed in a homogeneous medium are investigated in this report. The method of reflection matrices is used to show how the line voltages and currents are related to the driving source voltages or currents. It is also shown that for weak coupling, the expressions for the induced voltages and currents on a conductor due to energy on another conductor may be greatly simplified. In fact, the effect of the crosscoupling can be represented by lumped voltage and/or current generators on the induced conductor.
