An Emissions Control Decision Aiding System for Fleet Air Defense: An R and D Status Report.

Abstract

The conceptual design for an electronic warfare emissions control decision aiding system is described. The system is designed to assist the user in developing emission control plans that will provide the best balance between the quality of radar surveillance for fleet air defense, and information security for the fleet in terms of information given away to the enemy by the electronic emmissions from the ships in the task force. During the course of the study a portion of the decision aid was developed as a prototype to demonstrate some of the concepts. A brief description of the demonstration prototype is included and further steps required to develop and test a more complete prototype system are discussed. (Author)
