Continued Development of Pattern Recognition Techniques

Abstract

This program involved the continued development of pattern recognition equipment used in conjunction with the PACT system. The existing pattern recognition electronics were improved in order that mold spores would be rejected while retaining an acceptable sensitivity to egg challenges. Two mold spore detectors were fabricated accordingly. Two identical alarm logic systems were also designed and fabricated. The alarm logic systems perform complex processing of pattern recognition outputs automatically and continually. The system will alert the operator of the likelihood of an aerosol challenge. Prior to the development of the mold spore detector and alarm logic systems, a data acquisition was completed involving the FM tape recording of simulants and backgrounds. A subsequent data analysis was performed consisting of the analysis of selected portions of the acquired data which provided analytical tools for the development of the aforementioned hardware.
