Germanium Film Program.

Abstract

This report discusses the efforts that were expended toward assessing the formation of elemental germanium films from oxygen-deficient germanate glasses. An attempt has been made to physically characterize them from the viewpoint of amorphous/crystalline content, at least in the qualitative sense. A possible mechanism of film formation is also presented. The latter section deals with preliminary photoexcitation experiments which yielded positive reproducible photovoltage responses in some of the films. (Author)
