On the Equilibrium Silicide in Beta Ti-V Alloys Containing Si.

Abstract

Both x-ray and electron diffraction observations are presented indicating the presence of a tetragonal silicide, which is concluded to be the equilibrium phase in Ti-30 to 40V-1Si alloys aged at approx. 600 C. This silicide probably has the chemistry of (Ti,V)3Si but conceivably could be a tetragonal (Ti,V)5Si3 phase. (Author)
