Software Data Collection and Analysis: A Real-Time System Project History.

Abstract

This report discusses the procedures used for, and the results obtained from, an analysis of software error problem reports. The problem reports studied were generated during the development of a large, real-time, highly sophisticated multi-processor data processing system. A brief profile of the development of this system is presented along with discussions of the procedures used in the analysis of the problem reports and the objectives to be met. The results of the analysis are discussed, and statistics reflecting the results are presented. Finally, some of the problems encountered during the course of the study are presented, as well as some pertinent observations. (Author)
