The Fovea Centralis, the Key to the Horizontal-Vertical Illusion.

Abstract

This report is an attempt to document and explain the nature of the Horizontal-Vertical bias in the human visual system. The fovea centralis is identified as the probable cause of this bias due to its role in the dynamic scanning process of the human visual system. Also, the torsional scanning mode of the fovea centralis is postulated as performing the function of a recalibration mechanism.
