A New Generation of Systems Acquisition Managers.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to understand the impact of the Aviation Career Incentive Act and the Systems Acquisition Management Careers Directive on the career characters of future system program directors. Research of applicable reports, documents and directives concerning systems acquisition were used in the development of this report. To place the impact of the new policies in perspective, the pertinent career characteristics of the 35 officers who are currently responsible for the management of the major Air Force weapon systems acquisition programs are presented and analyzed. The report concludes with the formulation of resultant career characteristic changes which the author believes will occur in future generations of systems acquisition managers. (Author)
