Sensitivity Study of the XR-3 Loads and Motions Computer Program Sidewall Parameters and Forces on Roll Behavior in Calm Sea and a Comparison to Testcraft Turn Maneuver Data.

Abstract

The sensitivity of the XR-3 roll behavior in calm sea on sidewall parameters and force and moment calculations is investigated with the Loads and Motions computer program and compared with experimentally measured data. Propulsion and rudder subroutines and added mass computation are reviewed and modified. Recommendations for improved simulation of the XR-3 roll behavior are given. (Author)
