A Method for the Nondimensional Comparison of Mixed Layer Models.

Abstract

Using a dimensional analysis, a standardized framework for the intercomparison of different theoretical models is derived. This framework should also be useful in empirical data evaluations and ultimately in differentiating between the alternative parameterizations for the deepening and retreat process of the oceanic planetary boundary layer or mixed layer.
