Stacking Vehicles in LASH and SEABEE Barges.

Abstract

This study was predicated upon the assumption that shipping cost for military cargo moving by sea barge is rate negotiated instead of being based on measurement ton. When rates are negotiated, the situation becomes economically advantageous for the military to maximize space utilization of the barge. Thus, a study was made to determine the feasibility of multilayer stacking vehicles for shipment in LASH lighters and SEABEE barges. (Author)
