Vigorous Ignition Dynamics Revisited.

Abstract

The NOVA code developed by Gough is applied to the two phase flow problem of a detonating igniter for a packed bed of solid propellant grains. Previous computations and theory of Krier are compared with computations and theory by Gough. Pressure propagation rate predictions by NOVA are twice those of Krier, but still lower than experimental rates. Gas temperature profiles are markedly different. (Author)
