Computation of the Percentage Points of the Chi-Square Distribution

Abstract

A Fortran IV program is developed for computing the percentage points of the Chi-square distribution. The Newton-Raphson procedure is used with good initial approximations. The maximum number of iterations is four and in most cases only one or two are needed. An extensive table is given of the percentage points Chi squared in terms of nu, a positive number, and Q(nu/Chi squared), the probability integral of the Chi-square distribution.
