Zoom FFT - An Approximate Vernier Frequency Algorithm.

Abstract

This report describes a method for obtaining fine frequency resolution. The technique employs the partitioning of a large data sequence by performing small size FFTs and other digital signal processing techniques to achieve the finer resolution. The method yields approximate results. The accuracy appears to be dependent on Vernier bandwidth, signal-to-noise ratio and signal spectrum. A FORTRAN program is available in the Appendix. (Author)
