An Idealized Exact Penalty Function.

Abstract

In this paper an idealized exact penalty function is derived from natural considerations of the flow of particles under different forces. It is shown how Fletcher's exact penalty function is an approximation to this one. A second order version of the idealized exact penalty function is developed which is computable. (Author)
