Estimate of Maximum Level of Oil Innocuous to Marine Biota as Inferred from Literature Review.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to derive an estimate of the maximum level of oil which can be considered harmless to the marine biological community based on the current state-of-the-art as determined through review and interpretation of the literature. Overall nearly 2,000 individual articles relating to oil pollution were examined. One hundred and thirty-five of the most germane of these articles are listed as references.
