NQR and MO Studies of Caboranes

Abstract

This research consisted of four coordinated types of activity: (1) the design and construction of a pulsed NQR spectrometer; (2) testing it with known N14 resonances and experimental searches for boron NQR spectra, including some carboranes; (3) searches for carborane B11 - NQR resonances using a CW - NQR spectrometer; and (4) molecular orbital computations of wave functions and electric field gradients in some small carboranes. Highlights of the four technical reports issued previously are presented.
