Fabrication and Tests of the Prototype Surface/Shallow-Subsurface Clearance Vehicle (SSCV).

Abstract

The prototype Surface/Shallow-subsurface Clearance Vehicle (SSCV) was built and tested to demonstrate a practical, mechanized technique for clearing ordnance impact ranges. The clearance vehicle and its prime mover, a TD-20 Bulldozer, were successfully operated by remote control. This report describes the design, construction and tests of the SSCV. Modifications that were made to improve the operation of the vehicle are described as well as the subsequent testing of the vehicle after each modification phase. (Author)
