A Tracking Algorithm Using Bearing Only.

Abstract

A Kalman filter for tracking a moving acoustic radiator by means of angle of arrival information is developed. The Kalman equations are linearized about the measured angles rather than the state estimate in order to free the filters for dependence on an initial state estimate. Performance of the tracking algorithm is evaluated with Monte Carlo simulation. (Author)
