Block Sum Register and Burst Arithmetic.

Abstract

The Block Sum Register (BSR) is a basic building block used in Burst Processing. The main difficulty with it has been the large number of discrete components required for the current sources. The paper introduces various BSR designs with considerably smaller numbers of discrete components using the electrical characteristics of the BSR's shift register. The best design is then used in an arithmetic unit which performs the basic arithmetic operations, i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. (Author)
