Practical Application of Holographic Interferometry,

Abstract

Holographic interferometry offers great potential as a method for detecting small changes in any type of three-dimensional object. This report indicates several possible areas of application. Numerous photographs are included to demonstrate the use of this technique for observing resonant modes in various types of vibrating objects, for comparing differences between an object in its distorted and undistorted state, and for observing refractive index changes due to air flow around an object. The appendix discusses the relationships between recording and reconstruction parameters in a holographic system. (Author)
